Meet the Student
Alyssa Kuchta is a senior at the University of Delaware where she is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Chinese. Alyssa's range of extracurriculars include Sigma Kappa sorority, Students for Haiti, PSI CHI, UDRESS magazine, and working part-time at Bloom, a women's boutique. Her love for fashion and jewelry started from a young age, playing dress up in her grandma's jewelry box. Having been inspired throughout her life by the small businesses and entrepreneurs she worked with, her travels to Europe and Asia, and the passion of her fellow board members of Students for Haiti, Alyssa launched her line of unique and socially conscious jewelry she named eff.Y.bee follow your bliss, in August 2011. Her line consists of quirky statement necklaces incorporating pieces from her experiences as well as charity bracelets called Bay Lavi which means "give life" in Haitian creole.
"The most rewarding aspects of eff.Y.bee are the intense feelings of bliss I get when I see others wearing and loving the jewelry as well as the power to make a difference through doing something I love. My greatest mission with this line is to inspire others to follow what they love to do, to pursue their dreams, and to realize it's all within reach if they just believe".

This project is the only current UDSeed program at UD in which a full class works together on a mandatory, semester-long team consulting project for a UDSeed entrepreneur. Our COMM 313 Communication Principals in Advertising class of thirty three undergraduate students morphs into the structure of a professional advertising agency. We are advertising entrepreneurs providing “consulting” services, just as any strategic communication agency would do in the “working world”, to create a definitive brand identity for a UD “client”.
The unique component of our project that distinguishes us from all other UDSeed projects: Although we are a large TEAM of UDSeed entrepreneurs, we are also PARTNERING with another UDSeed individual entrepreneur, Alyssa Kuchta (customized jewelry business with a social conscious - eff.y.bee). Kuchta is a US senior Psychology Major and Chinese Minor seeking professional marketing services which we will provide her through our class work. The entire course is built around the project, which begins the FIRST day of class and leads through each day until the end of the semester.
The advertising project creates an opportunity for COMM 313 students to experience FIRST-HAND development of professional-level marketing materials for a REAL client, rather than the traditional “pretend” client or case-study analysis approach of nearly all academic classes across the country. The project emphasizes an integrated marketing approach to advertising and branding, such that all materials/concepts will relate to each other through a seamless interweaving of all images, messages and customer-facing experiences.
Goal: Produce professional-level brand identity program with accompanying target audience profile, logo, slogan, adverting mock-ups, social media plan, and media-buy plan for fellow UDSeed entrepreneur Alyssa Kuchta (eff.y.bee) which will actually launch by end of Spring 2012 semester on May 15.
